Introduction Richard Friesner has worked in the environmental sciences for over 5 years in different capacities. Currently, serving as the Program Director for the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University; a program that brings highly talented high school seniors to Washington, DC for a week of discussions and interactions with policy makers and experts on environmental science, policy, law, advocacy and energy. Richard has been actively involved in environmental science and policy since his teenage years and has served as an Ecology and Conservation staff member for the Boy Scouts. Until the spring of 2010 Richard was the Department Manager for Environmental Services at Professional Service Industries, Inc. in Richmond, VA. Prior to his service as a hydrologic technician at the USGS’s Kansas Water Science Center in Lawrence. Richard attended the KU where he earned a BS in Environmental Studies/Chemistry and a MS in Environmental Science. Active in several student groups, upon graduation he was awarded the Rusty C. Leffel Concerned Student Award. Beginning in the fall of 2010, Richard hopes to begin studying for a PhD in Environmental Science & Policy at Mason.
