| Introduction | When my 12 month old was diagnosed with food allergies, I had no idea how my life would be forever changed. Food is an integral part of our society. We live for it. Happy, sad, in celebration and in mourning, our lives are centered around food. The past two years, I have spent many hours searching for and experimenting with safe foods/recipes for Lukas. I have shed many tears. Tears of sadness, tears of fear. My mother loved the quote, "When life hands you lemons, make lemonade". As any parent would, I have done everything in my power to give my son a 'normal', nutritious, and tasty diet. I have found many wonderful recipes, substitutions and products that have made this possible. I hope this blog can be a resource for parents of children with food allergies. I also hope to also educate my friends and family on healthier alternatives to the common diet. |
