| Introduction | A funny thing happened while becoming an artist and landscape oil painter (after my first careers as a Mathematician and Computer Programmer). I noticed how often the 'bibles' of painting included topics on what I perceive as mathematical elements. Mathematics influences our paintings in the patterns found everywhere in nature.. Almost 20 years after beginning my painting journey I realize that it has brought me full-circle back to my roots in Mathematics. A Mathematician Paints: Radical Impressionism is my attempt to marry Mathematics and Painting as my style; it is Impressionistic but the 'radical' element refers to proportions involving square roots of 2, 3, etc, as well as "non-traditional" painting styles. More recently, I have embarked on a project to study all the literature out there on math and art. And now I am exploring how Mathematics can improve my art.
