| Introduction | Jim Leary has extensive experience in the cruise industry from working on cruise ships to being an avid cruiser himself to selling vacations to other cruisers. In 1995, he went to work onboard ships as cruise staff and worked his way up to DJ, Club HAL (youth program,) Assistant Cruise Director and ultimately Cruise Director while being able to visit almost every port in the cruise industry. He then worked as a Port & Shopping Ambassador, making recommendations for the best shopping as well as hot spots for local cuisine. In 2004, he “jumped ship” and landed at the largest independently owned travel agency in the U.S. He worked in the cruise department, group cruise department and singles cruise department. From there he moved to Customer Service Manager and now manages a team of 18 cruise agents (out of 362 who sell cruises.) With his experience in onboard operations, knowledge of the ports and places to shop, first-hand experience in making a cruise reservation (including daily contact with most cruise lines,) Jim is one of the few people who has knowledge of life onboard, who can make cruise reservations, and who enjoys cruising himself. |
