About me

Introduction	I am an artist and painter with a BFA in painting from Jacksonville University, FL. I began my studies of both studio art and art history at Wake Forest University. My concentration is primarily figurative painting, although I draw (charcoal, pastel, graphite), build, and sculpt (ceramics and wood) on a regular basis. Within the last several years, I have also fallen in love with the process of intaglio/dry-point and etching. Printmaking and painting work well hand-in-hand, and I often explore the same concept in both media. My artwork stems from the desire to investigate and understand the complexity of human relationships--how we connect to each other and our surroundings--both manmade and natural. I am inspired by personal experiences, as well as natural forces such as extreme weather and environmental decay. Many of my paintings incorporate the processes of collage, surface modification, layering, and deconstruction to create highly textured compositions layered with meaning.
