| Introduction | I am raising six children with my wife in a home often like a community home. So many young people coming and going! My wife works in the field of education and we experience many insights into the lives of young people of all ages 0-25. How they think and apply themselves to tasks and their attitude to living out events both school/tertiary based and life as it is. I've studied Business, Education, Earth Science and Theology. Over a period of twenty-five years I have taught in seven schools and I've had formal leadership roles for most of those years. In the 1980's I worked Saturdays serving the educational needs of 6-12 year olds in Eveleigh St Redfern with the legends: Sr Oliver and Mum Shirl. One thing I enjoy in education is providing students with opportunities to attain skills to succeed in life. Learning can be about the 3 R's and it is about experiences, from home, school and elsewhere; experiences that assist instructional lessons to become relational. As much as the teacher can support this transition they ought, for this is learning for living. A successful education lies with students accessing wisdom and being able to apply it, that's where 'character' steps in. |
| Interests | IN-TENT is about opening up to this new time in education. The digital age makes it possible to learn in reality, no longer are teachers locked into text books and outdated information. Students will encounter learning as valuable when it's applicable to their world. Schooling can be about learning in the real world and in real time. |
