Introduction	In January of 2005, after living in NYC for 18 years, and having take-out everyday for just as long, I moved to Los Angeles and was determined to face my FEAR OF THE KITCHEN. (It's real, people) I finally had the space to succeed and fail, and wow, have I done both. With the help of some very patient friends, wonderful websites, and an incredibly supportive family, I started the process of trying to feel comfortable in the kitchen. My die-hard NY friends tried to convince me to return to the Big Apple, but I kept telling them about the produce here in southern California, the farmers markets, and the HUGE kitchen I now have! There were late night drunk phone calls from NY, "I'm holding a beautiful mango, Leslie, COME HOME!" But still, it wasn't enough, bless their hearts. In the last four years, I've met a wonderful man, had an amazing son, and gotten married, (in that order), and now have even more reason to cook up a storm. Much to my surprise, after years of being banned from my mother's kitchen, and mockery from my friends, I'm enjoying my new found hobby.
