| Introduction | Longtime music-writer Tim Newby is the author of three books, "Bluegrass in Baltimore: The Hard Drivin’ Sound & Its Legacy" which was published in 2015 and named one of the “Thirty Great Books about Bluegrass Music” in 2016 and awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the Association for Recorded Collections for “Best Research in Recorded Country Music.” His second book was "Leftover Salmon: Thirty Years of Festival!" and published in 2019. He was also a contributor to the Phish Companion (2nd Edition) published in 2004. His latest book, The Original Louisville Slugger: The Life and Times of Forgotten Baseball Legend Pete Browning will be published in September 2024 by the University Press of Kentucky. Newby has written for a number of outlets over the years including Paste, Relix, Bluegrass Unlimited, Glide, Inside Lacrosse, Slide & Banjo, and Honest Tune where he served as the Features Editor. He lives in Baltimore, Maryland, where he can often be found enjoying the city’s thriving music scene. |
