| Introduction | It seems when it comes to mental health first-person accounts only the negative stories are being told in the mainstream media. I am certain that there are more success stories than stories that end in tragedy. Today I consider myself a success story, and I know that others would benefit from hearing my story, as well as how I function on a day-to-day basis living with schizophrenia. Writing was always a hobby for me until I received a mental health diagnosis. Helping others who have a similar diagnosis became my passion and purpose in life. I have been published in the Washington Post, Newsweek magazine and regularly in the medical journal Schizophrenia Bulletin. |
