Introduction | Factories in the countryside run on part-time jobs is the idea to which I have devoted most of my life. My first book on the subject, A Part-time Job in the Country, failed to find a publisher. My second, The Soft Path I published myself. You can find it on the web. |
Interests | Ancient and Modern History, Comparative Religion, Economics. |
Favorite Movies | Currently 1930's Hollywood comedies on Turner Classic Movies (thank you Ted Turner!) |
Favorite Music | Mozart's Piano Quartets, the soundtrack to Ken Burn's PBS television series, "The Civil War" along with choice examples of just about every genre of 19th and 20th century American popular music. |
Favorite Books | War and Peace, Sandburg's 6 volume biography of Lincoln. I like almost any fiction written by Ellen Gilchrist or John Updike. Thomas Eliot is my favorite poet after Shakespeare and I am a big fan of the King James translation of the Bible. Pope's Essay on Man is a favorite. I'm always on the lookout for new fiction to read and, lately, some of the new poetry coming out in little magazines like The Paris Review. When it comes to literature I am a snob. |
