| Introduction | I am currently a student in my third year at Pacific Lutheran University and my 21st year attending the School of Life. At PLU I am, among other things, a Chinese Studies, Scandinavian Studies, Global Studies/transnational movements and ethnic diversity major, anthropology minor, and at the School of Life I am working on my B.S., hence this blog. I love people and running, even though both can be annoying some days. I love people because I love to hear their stories and learn other languages, and running so that I can process them. |
| Interests | I love learning languages because, as cliche as it is, it embodies and reveals so much about people's stories, histories, what matters to them both individually and collectively as parts of larger societies, beliefs, and everything. Knowing a language really helps you delve so much deeper into a whole other realm of knowledge, whether that means being able to understand an ancient manuscript or learn from a friend. In a past life I studied Spanish and Italian, and more recently, Norwegian. I am continuing studying Chinese and will begin Tibetan classes later this year. I love traveling. Traveling with meaning and with that sense of excitement, of trying new things, wandering and going where your feet take you, of getting in those potentially-awkward situations and trying to make sense of something new and different, and finding a new home in and among it. I like to read, but during the school year it is hard to find the time. And...I love being outdoors a lot. Well, I like exercising in general, as weird as that sounds, but if I can go on a really long hike or be able to spend several hours planting trees....it just can't get much better than that. Running and trail running, running in cities, running in the rain, lap swimming, attempting to cook, trying new foods...discovering some awesome music, meeting new people and hearing their stories. And really good conversations. |
| Favorite movies | I have movies that I like, but likely this is because I hardly see any. |
| Favorite music | I find that my favorite music is the stuff that people share with me, and just in general makes really lasting memories, and ideally, is good to run to. This would be a long list if I actually went into it here. |
You have to dig a hole to China. Where do you start?
Dharamsala.
