Introduction	Through my company, Plan B Events and Promotions, my work falls into two primary areas: event management and professional writing. One of my writing projects focuses on families who have adopted former foster children. When people consider this type of adoption, fear of the baggage children with histories of abuse and/or neglect bring with them can be a “deal breaker.” Without a doubt, former foster kids come with issues. In many cases, though, once the families are educated by properly trained professionals of the “why” behind their children’s behaviors, they can begin to modify their own reactions. From there, finding effective ways to manage their children’s problems, and to help them become well-adjusted, productive, independent, and even happy members of their family, is indeed possible. Through this project, I am hopeful that expanding awareness of successful foster adoptions in our area will result in an increased local interest in adopting, as well as an increase in the effective support services provided to those in our community who do adopt.
