Introduction	I live by the sea with my four children and my man and my dog and my cat, I work shifts, days and nights, my work is all about saving lives at sea. Baggywrinkle, apart from just being a great word that strangely sums up how I feel a lot of the time, is also a soft covering for cables or any other obstructions to reduce chafe on a sailing ship - unprotected sails develop holes at the points of contact without baggywrinkles....and so, as my slightly bonkers family sail through life's stormy seas, I am trying to be the baggywrinkle...trying to give the kids a protective covering, but not so much covering or smothering or mothering that they can't ride life’s waves alone or at all or feel the wind and sun on their faces and experience the thrill of the ride... and this is my journey, this is the coal face of the work/home balancing act.
