Introduction Martha Patterson is a playwright, essayist, fiction author, and poet. She has written more than 175 long & short plays, and has been published in anthologies by Pioneer Drama Service, Smith & Kraus / Applause Theatre & Cinema Books, Grattan Street Press, the Sheepshead Review, The Pointed Circle Journal, the Afro-Hispanic Review, In Case of Emergency Press, Silver Birch Press, & others. Her playwriting work has been produced in eight countries and 21 U.S. states. She earned her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College and an M.A. from Emerson College, both degrees in Theatre.
Interests Writing, reading, needlework, listening to National Public Radio and watching PBS-TV.
Favorite Movies Casablanca; Three Days of the Condor; the "Wallander" televised Swedish mysteries from PBS - gritty & dark!
Favorite Music For classical: Aaron Copland's "The Tender Land"; Edvard Grieg's "Peer Gynt"; Chopin's "Piano Concerto in E minor". For rock: Rolling Stones, U2, Psychedelic Furs, Chrissie Hynde, Aimee Mann, the Cranberries, Sinead O'Connor. For jazz: Bill Evans, Chet Baker.
Favorite Books Edith Wharton; Thoreau; short story writer William Trevor; Sarah Orne Jewett's "Country of the Pointed Firs"; M.F.K. Fisher's essays on food.
