Introduction Distinctly informed by the vibrantly coloured advertisements and animations of the late 1950s, my work has much in common with the modern movements in painting and graphic design of this era. It is the work of practicing conceptual artists of the time such as Mary Blair and Derek Yaniger that help inspire my visuals and subject matter. Growing up enjoying science fiction, fantasy, and monster movies, I became a huge fan of Tim Burton and Ray Harryhausen’s Stop-Motion work. Their artistry has played a huge part in where I am today as an animator and alongside an extensive interest in graphic novels, is also responsible for my sequential visualising as a storyboard artist. Therefore, by adopting a Stop-Motion approach using cutout card and paper, I can combine my love for three-dimensional animation with the angular, characterised aesthetics of my own visual language.
