| Introduction | Born and raised in the Midwest, I learned a love of cooking from my mom, a wonderful Italian cook and my dad, who cooked Filipino dishes and the best chicken soup I've ever had. I decided to pursue my passion for food professionally and went to the Cooking & Hospitality Institute of Chicago, before moving on to the Culinary Institute of America. I chef'ed for Lettuce Entertain You in Chicago for 7 years (Hail, Richard Melman!), moved to Maryland with my family and joined a restaurant consulting firm. Now I live a not-so-quiet existence in a quaint historic town in Central Maryland, working full-time for a non-profit, enjoying the splendors of my local CSA this time of year, and cooking for our household of 6. My 3 kids all like to help in the kitchen, I'm blessed to have a husband who's a chef too, and my mom watches over our culinary pursuits with nothing but praise. I hope to encourage more people to support their local farms or join a CSA by providing practical information about cooking and storing fresh-from-the-field food. |
