| Introduction | Gordon Mumbai was born in the Boston area to Habs-loving parents who tried but failed to convert her to le bleu-blanc-et-rouge. Her favorite hockey player as a child, a testament to the randomness of youth, was Ted Donato. Mumbai attended a college in Boston that had no sports teams whatsoever, and while the Bruins were lost in the wasteland, she channeled all her energy into cheering the Red Sox on to their first World Series title in 86 years. She finally got in touch with her Canadian roots and became obsessed with all things puck when she moved to DC (at the same time Bruce Boudreau took over the Caps). Mumbai swoons for the Russians (Ovie, Semin, Federov, yes, even Geno) and doesn’t think the best player in the league is from Nova Scotia. |
