| Introduction | I am 75 years old and have lived in Nevada since 1974. I was born in Pasadena, California, and grew up in Altadena, an unincorporated community adjacent to Pasadena and nestled at the foot of the rugged San Gabriel Mountains. It was in the San Gabriel mountains that I spent much of my childhood and where I found my love of hiking and the outdoors. My wife and I have been retired now for more than a decade and love to spend our time gardening, studying history, and traveling all across America in our RV. Since retirement we have visited all the states save Alaska and Rhode Island, and have chocked up almost 50,000 miles in the process. |
| Interests | Photography, writing, gardening, investing, reading, travel, collecting, etymology, the study of surnames, genealogy, vintage autos and early auto travel, American history. |
| Favorite movies | Roxanne with Steve Martin, 84 Charing Cross Road with Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft, Mama Mia |
| Favorite music | I have been a fan of Fleetwood Mac since the early 1970s. But I like most types of music to a greater or lesser degree. Since retirement I've been collecting vintage vinyl records of the Big Band era. |
| Favorite books | I love adventure novels by the English author, Hammond Innes. I love mysteries by Lawrence Block and Michael Connelly. Of course, I love to read nearly any subject and nowadays focus mostly on reading history. |
If you were a pirate, how would you avoid laughing when saying 'poop deck'?
I'd say it in Italian, though even after three semesters of same, I couldn't begin to guess how it would be said.
