Introduction | Tom Sullivan started his seminary studies in his hometown of St. Louis, Missouri. He later joined the Irish missionary Columban Fathers. After ordination in 1952, the Columbans sent him to Yang Yang, Korea where he served for a dozen years in a town near the 38th parallel with no other English speakers and no electricity. Upon finishing his Korean tours in 1967, he returned to the States where he earned a Masters in English from St. Louis University and attended the Iowa Writers Workshop. He taught at the Columban Fathers Seminary before moving to the Diocese of Saint Augustine Florida where he taught middle and high school students and served as pastor for thirty years. Father Sullivan was pastor of St. Paul's Catholic Church and School in the Riverside neighborhood of Jacksonville, Florida for almost 25 years. He retired in 2007, and celebrates mass daily: - Monday through Saturday at 7:20 am at the chapel at St. Vincent Medical Center in Riverside and, - Sunday at 11:30 am at the nursing home adjacent to St. Vincents, St. Catherine Laboure Manor. His book, One Happy Old Priest, was published in April, 2010. |
