Introduction Stacey Kirby earned her B.A. at the UNC-Chapel Hill in Art and Journalism with an emphasis in visual communication. She has worked at numerous art centers and schools including the Women's Studio Workshop, Penland School of Crafts, Bard College, and the Kansas City Art Institute. She has been the recipient of two Regional Artist Project Grants (2004 and 2008) from the United Arts Council of Raleigh & Wake County; a 2007 Artist Residency at the Headlands Center for the Arts in CA; a 2005 Associate Artist Residency with Jane Hammond at the Atlantic Center for the Arts in FL; and the 2002 Regional Emerging Artist Residency at Artspace. Kirby's work has been included in exhibitions at the NC Museum of Art, Raleigh, NC; The Mint Museum, Charlotte, NC; Flux Factory, NYC, NY; Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY; and Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA.
Interests Kirby's current performance and installation work is a combination of her paper and bookmaking skills, along with her job experiences at the NC Museum of History and costumes in musicals as part of the Broadway Series South. Her work has been exhibited nationally, and her work is included in numerous public and private collections including in the Duke University Rare Book Collection.
