Introduction Cathy DeForest is a Northwest printmaker and book artist who integrates printmaking, photography, drawing, mixed media and letterpress into her book art. She has produced both one of a kind books and small editions of letterpress books. She has sold over 3,000 letterpress broadsides of her work and her artist books have been exhibited and collected nationally including: San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts, Oakland Museum, Yale, Brown, UCLA and University of Santa Barbara. Recent exhibits include: the San Francisco Center for the Book, Cambridge Arts Council and Illahe Gallery. She founded two galleries in the past 10 years, one in the San Francisco and Gallery DeForest in Ashland Oregon. Cathy is a member of the Guild of Book Workers, Pacific Center for the Book Arts, California Society of Printmakers, Book Club of California, Artist Conference Network, and a supporter of the SF Center For the Book. Cathy has been teaching since 1968 and is currently offering workshops in her Ashland farmhouse studio. She created Jubilation Press with her son, poet Derek Pyle. Jubilation Press produces letterpress broadsides and artist books on antique printing presses.
