Sponges and tongues are frequently misspelled. Is it because both are thirsty?
One can certainly argue that sponges (I would assume commercial sponges, not natural ones) and tongues both are thirsty (the former, in a metaphorical sense; the latter, more literally so). However, I cannot see how this "thirst" quotient is connected to the concept that these words are often misspelled. I would write the spelling off as simple typographical errors!
