| Introduction | I was born Silke Marita Beinssen in Sydney in 1936 of Australian-German parents, studied in Sydney and Bonn before gaining my PhD in the Monash University German Department in 1969, then lecturing there till 1999. I married Hein Hesse in 1958. We have 4 children and 9. grandchildren. I am currently an Adjunct Research Associate at Monash. |
