About me

Industry Non-Profit
Location Galveston and Southeast Harris Counties, Texas, United States
Introduction Since 1991, the Bay Area Habitat for Humanity affiliate has worked to provide residents of Galveston County and Southeast Harris County affordable housing. We are the largest non-profit builder in our area. We are currently building in Dickinson and La Porte. We are the only builder in the area that works with families whose income levels are less than 60% of the area medium income level. Since 1991, our affiliate has moved 80 families from deplorable conditions into decent living conditions. Our homes cost $65,000 and appraise for around $90,000. Volunteers provide labor, funding, and in-kind donations to help fund these homes. The homes are then sold to the families at no interest over approximately 25 years. Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Bay Area-Houston Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with God and people of all faiths and races to develop communities for people in need by building and renovating houses, creating homeownership opportunities.
