IntroductionAssociate director of DLG, a GALILEO initiative based at UGA that assists Georgia's institutions of cultural heritage with creating online access to the state's history. A certified archivist, McAlister is active in the Society of Georgia Archivists and the Society of American Archivists. She was chair of SAA's preservation section in 2004 and a member of the section's steering committee from 1999 to 2006. Also, she served as president of SGA in 2005 and is on the editorial board of Provenance. Prior to her 2001 arrival in DLG, she was the Electronic Access Coordinator for the Richard B. Russell Library at UGA and was responsible for automating their descriptive practices, processing electronic records, and coordinating its digital projects. She has presented on digital libraries and archival description for the Association of Moving Image Archivists, SAA, SGA, GLA, GUGM, the ASIST, the Panhandle Library Access Network, and the South Carolina Archival Association and has taught workshops for SOLINET on metadata, EAD, and digital library program development. Her consulting activities include projects for the Troup County Archives, Clemson, and GSU’s Special Collections.
