| Introduction | I'm retired. I've published books on film written for fans and presented papers on theatre and film for academics. I'd rather sit through a third-rate horror film than some Masterpiece Theatre rip-off blown up to the big screen, but don't get me wrong, I grew up on Masterpiece Theatre and still consider the time spent on The Forsyte Saga (technically not Masterpiece Theatre, but bear with me) time well spent. I usually don't like what's winning awards or making reviewers salivate and believe that low-budget films often say more about the culture than the big movies that win awards and rule the box office. |
