| Introduction | My name is Lucy Gurney, and I am the owner of Secret Garden Quilting Ltd, a new company based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Ever since I can remember I have been sewing, following the example of my mum who was a talented dressmaker and embroiderer. My interest in patchwork and quilting really started when I was living in the United States during the 1990s. On my return to the UK, I enrolled in a sampler quilt course, and I was hooked! My goal is to open a quilt shop in the local area, as we have lost several over the last few years, but I decided to start slowly taking my 'pop-up' shop to local quilt groups and village halls in the north Hertfordshire area and selling via the internet.
