| Introduction | Are quilts really just blankets or can they have deeper stories that reveal ideas that we might not have considered? My Concept Quilts attempt to look at ordinary things in extraordinary ways. While every quilt has its story, it is often true that every story has its quilt. My passion for crafts and visual arts began at age five when my grandmother first revealed the secrets of embroidery. I took to the needle and never looked back, ultimately finding my true passion in creating art quilts. For the past twenty years I’ve been using stories, songs, and events as inspirations for quilts that have been displayed in numerous shows and venues. I’ve been known to forego meals, sunny days, and even chocolate when immersed in full blown quilting mode. Such is the joy of teaching and learning in the collaborative culture of quilters. |
