IntroductionJyoti Dhar is an art critic of British and Indian descent based in Dubai. She is currently Head of Editorial and Content Strategy for Sharjah Art Foundation. Her recent work includes writing for anthologies and monographs on artists such as Seher Shah, Nasreen Mohamedi, Lala Rukh, Geoffrey Bawa and Jistish Kallat. She has been a contributing editor for ArtAsiaPacific, a regular contributor to Artforum and a columnist for The Sunday Times in Sri Lanka. She was assistant editor of the launch issue of The Ceylon Chronicle and founder of Chinartree.com. Her review of Chandraguptha Thenuwara's exhibition, GLITCH +, won first prize at the International Awards for Art Criticism (IAAC) 4 in 2017. She is the recipient of the Forbes India Emerging Art Writer of the Year award 2014 and was a Forum Fellow at Art Dubai in 2012. Her writing has also appeared in publications and periodicals including Aperture, Asian Art News, Contemporary Practices, Even, Flash Art, Harpers Bazaar Art Arabia, Isskustvo Arts Journal, Modern Painters, Motherland, post at MoMA, Scroll Projects on Paper, Vogue India and WeAreOrlando.
