Introduction Jyoti Dhar is an independent art critic based between New Delhi and Colombo. Dhar graduated from the University of Bristol in 2004. Over the last decade or so, her focus has been on contemporary art from the Middle East and South Asia. Dhar is currently a contributing editor for ArtAsiaPacific, a columnist for The Sunday Times in Sri Lanka and a contributor to Artforum. She has written for a number of publications including Asian Art News, Contemporary Practices, Even, Flash Art, Harper's Bazaar Art Arabia, Isskustvo Arts Journal, Modern Painters and Motherland. Dhar is the recipient of Forbes India's Emerging Art Writer of the Year award 2014 and was selected as a Forum Fellow of the Global Art Forum at Art Dubai in 2012. In New Delhi, she was Critic-in-Residence for "In Context II: public.art.ecology" with Khoj as well as Rapporteur and Editor of "City as Studio 03" and "City as Studio 02" programs with Sarai. In Dubai, she was the curator of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and Ralf Ziervogel's solo show "In Decay" at Carbon 12 gallery, as well as several exhibitions at Bagash Art Gallery.
