| Introduction | The Baltimore Dance Crews Project strives to provide after-school dance opportunities to the students of Baltimore City Public Schools. Choreographers from the Virginia, Maryland, and DC area volunteer their time to be hip-hop instructors at school sites across the city.

After meeting through Teach for America in 2008, Brian Gerardo and Cynthia Chavez, Baltimore City school teachers, began teaching each other dances they performed with their college hip-hop teams. They wanted to share their passion for dance with their students. Brian then reached out to old friends and experienced dancers, Kim Arteche and Aaren Salido, to help launch the project. . Founders .
