| Introduction | I was born and raised in Southern Wisconsin. I graduated from Madison Area Technical College where I focused my studies on illustration, color theory, and design. After college I worked as an illustrator for a large outdoor advertising company where my job was hand painting billboards. Yes, hand-painted! Kind of aged myself there...After seven years of painting billboards, technology caught up with the outdoor advertising business, making my job obsolete. In 1997 I made the move to Northwest Wisconsin to work as a designer and illustrator for an apparel company. It started out as mostly wildlife art (my passion), and then due to market changes, has moved into a more graphic style art. My competitive nature got me started in entering wildlife stamp contests. I've won some and lost some. The difficulty I have with them is the small sizes of the paintings. My preferred medium is oil, but I have self-taught myself acrylics for the smaller stamp paintings. In addition to all of that, I just acquired a bachelors degree in social science with an education focus. I'm hoping to teach my craft to others very soon. Best regards, Craig |
