| Introduction | I am a middle aged mom living in San Jose, California. I work part-time at a local community college. In August 2010, both of my teenagers left home (and by "left home" I mean, "Should we turn their rooms into the guest room and your art studio now or wait a few months?") I'm the first of my friends to have both kids gone from the house, and there were dire predictions of devastation, tears, and overwhelming depression. None of these things happened. In this blog, I will share and explore my life--which feels very different but is not the black hole predicted--in the empty nest. |
