Introduction A traditional darkroom photographer who manages to survive reasonably well in a digital world, the "silverwizard" lives just north of San Francisco,California. He pays most of the rent by pushing pixels, and spends whatever time he can at the beach or desert. He still gets into the darkroom from time to time - it's the best fun you can have with your clothes on! For more on my techniques:
Interests Other than photography?... good smoke ( of various kinds), music & books, & going to the beach or desert. Good movies. Just thinking.. about how life works, and my life in particular, at 63YO.
Favorite Movies 'Apocalypse Now', anything by David Lynch, & Clint Eastwood: the 'dirty harry' series and all the spaghetti westerns... & others too numerous to list. But I'll try anyway: Most anything w/ Brad Pitt, all the oceans 11, 12, 13 films. Pan's Labyrinth, & anything Stanley Kubrick ever did.
Favorite Music Jimi Hendrix, Michael Hedges, Coltrane, The Who, Warren Zevon, Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Mark Isham, Billy Cobham, John McLaughlin, Keith Jarrett, Dave Mathews, Rolling Stones, .. and i still have a few cassette tapes from way back when - Edgar Winter's 'white trash' & 'Entrance'.. Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes - ("Love is a sacrifice" is incredibly "ON!" from start to finish...) and anything by The Yardbirds :-) And more recently, anything by Jeff Beck.
Favorite Books 'The Songlines' - Bruce Chatwin All of John McPhee's books about american geology, including 'Assembling California'... Edward Abbey's "Desert Solitaire".. Peter Mathiessen "The Snow Leopard". "Blue Highways William Least Heat Moon. "Secrets from the Center of the World" - Joy Harjo & Steven Strom. Published in 1989, it's only 6x7", and soft-bound/paperback - which sounds 'small' - this book is *anything but* small. Read it at your own risk - you may find yourself making one way travel plans, to anywhere that's... big... silent... & totally, completely! the grid...!
