IntroductionI am Jason Pennington, the owner of The Vermilion Bay Yarn Company in Lafayette, Louisiana. I'm a native of Little Rock, Arkansas and have lived in Lafayette since 1998. I've knitted since age 4 and crocheted since age 10. The same summer she taught me to crochet, my German grandmother also taught me to create Belgian Lace. I attended the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, earning a B.A. and an M.A. in German, Latin & Ancient Greek, and Organ. Thanks to a Fulbright Scholarship, I lived in Regensburg, Germany to study the Roman military encampment Castra Regina and to learn Baroque keyboard technique. I've taught German at University, Latin and English Literature at a Catholic Boys School, and served as an organist/choral conductor for nearly 30 years. I own the premier yarn shop in Acadiana: VBYC, and I am the Organist/Choir Master at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in New Iberia, Louisiana.

Favorite moviesThat varies. There are loads of movies I like and quote from often. My favorite one really depends on my mood.
Favorite musicVery eclectic. I'm the piano accompanist at a local voice studio and am called upon to play everything from Renaissance artsongs to opera arias to Broadway to Pop and Country.
Favorite booksHmm...that question is better answered by era. I love most things ancient from Niebelungenlied, Beowolf and earlier to Aeneid and the Homerics (Illiad is my fav of Homer). Renaissance and Baroque stuff: mostly the poetry. In English, Milton and Donne are groovy, and of course the Bard. In German, the memento mori stuff is groovy in small doses. Can't beat the writings of Luther of course. Classical period: I like mostly the lit of Goethe and Schiller, including the Sturm and Drang era (yes, I like the Beethoven 9th, but prefer the 6th and the slow mvt. of the 7th). My most favorite era is Romanticism up through the Fin de Siecle: Poe, Tieck, Eichendorff, Hoffmann, Novalis, and the whole crew. Visuals and Audibles: Gustav Klimt (Ver Sacrum!) and Mahler! The Beethoven murals, Symphony 2 and 5, Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen (Ich hab' ein Gluehend Messer -- my fav).

Please come up with a more appropriate name for the ringtoe:

The annular pedal digit, in latin: digitus annularis pedis. Now that we've established that, what's a ringtoe?
