| Introduction | Tahodoga: a portmanteau of Lake Tahoe and Lake Ladoga - the lake where I was born and raised and the awesomely majestic extremely large lake that is to the north and east of St. Petersburg. Karelia is the geographic region around St. Petersburg/Ladoga/Finland. Wikipedia has a nice description/history of it. This blog began about my adventures in Russia from July 2012-July 2013. It continues with my life as I returned to the US, although I'm terrible at keeping it updated. I hope that you all enjoy reading what I have to write and that you can to some extent vicariously experience what I believe to be an amazing city, country, and culture (if you're reading about Russia stuff - if about the US side, well, you can vicariously experience my life here). I was in Russia as both a teacher of English and a student of Russian. I hope to return to that life. |
