| Introduction | Hi, my name is Bob Dickson and I'm the Franchise owner of Dale Carnegie Training of Western CT. I took the Dale Carnegie Course in Communications and Human Relations back in 1997 when I was trying to get a sales position. I remember the day I interviewed with the VP of Sales and being told that they were hiring someone else because he was more polished. This stung as I considered myself to be an achiever and great with people. I started looking around for ways to get that 'polish' for the next opportunity to interview for a sales job. Many roads led me to Dale Carnegie, so I called up and enrolled. It was the best thing I ever did for my Career and Life! After taking the 12-week program it became easier to develop relationships, win people to my way of thinking and reduce stress. The biggest bonus was an increase in confidence when interacting with authority figures at work, which was holding me back. When I had a chance to work for Dale Carnegie Training I jumped on it. If you'd like to learn more about me and our programs go to our website at westernct.dalecarnegie.com. I guarantee that it will be the first step to creating a new and highly successful future for yourself! |
| Interests | I love to Read. I'm always immersed in a book as well as magazines (Sports Illustrated, Harvard Business Review, Readers Digest, Time, People, Training Magazine and US News &; World Report) and papers. Running, Biking (There is nothing better than careening down a trail in the woods and jumping rocks and trees on a Mountain Bike during the summer in Connecticut) and working out. My favorite time of day is hanging out with my son who is 5 years old. He's the joy of my life! |
| Favorite music | I have an eclectic taste in music. On my MP3 player I have a mix of Old Rock (Steely Dan, Led Zepplin, The Doors), 80's music (Cindy Lauper has a great accoustic CD of her hits), Rap (Will Smith to 50 cent), easy listening (Billy Joel and Neil Diamond come to mind), Raggae (Love Bob Marley)and hard rock (Kid Rock is great when I'm biking or working out!) It all depends on the mood! |
| Favorite books | I'm a big fan of reading and constantly have 2-3 books going at any given time. Typically I read something fictional, some type of self development and a business book to help my company become more successful. |
