Introduction | I have taught elementary through university level students and have been involved in adult literacy education during the last twenty-five years. I have been a faculty exchange professor at Odessa State University in Odessa, Ukraine and at Cape Coast University in Cape Coast, Ghana. During the 1999-2000 academic year I was a Fulbright Scholar in Norway where I conducted writing workshops for teachers and high school students. In the spring of 2009 I will spend two months at LCC University in Klaipeda, Lithuania teaching in the English Department. My poetry and short stories have been published in various magazines and journals. My co-authored book Enriching Our Lives: Poetry Lessons for Adult Literacy Teachers and Tutors is used widely by literacy educators. Exploring Our Lives: A Writing Handbook for Senior Adults was published by Santa Monica Press in September 2002. My most recent book Celebrating Language with Adult Literacy Students: Lessons to Engage and Inspire was published in 2008. |
