About me

IntroductionAfter a longer-than-expected stint serving my country, I began pursuing a second dream of living a life full of travel, books, re-modeling small homes, and taking-on the occasional consulting job. Then, 2008 hit. Along with a few minor but expensive medical emergencies, life quickly changed (or rather "income" quickly changed). Fortunately, an interest in repurposing furniture, small homes, cars, home goods and making the most out of gardening and cooking-at-home saved the day. No doubt, many things changed after the financial mess of 2008. But the unexpected consequence of 2008 was, for me, a stronger focus on making the most out of repurposing everything in my environment. The convenience of buying consumer goods on a whim without much thought to cost disappeared. What I was left with, however, was a commitment to restoring, repurposing, and salvaging consumer goods that are (or can be made) of superior quality. Convenience may be gone, but life is getting better.
