| Introduction | John Berg has been engaged since 1971 in intercultural advocacy and diversity work focused on the peoples of the Middle East. Raised in southern California, John embarked on overseas volunteer service in France during the summer of 1971 where he met a Moroccan who forever changed John’s notions about the Arab peoples. He went on to work in Lebanon for two years, followed by earning an MA in cross cultural studies, then a year in London and seven years in Cairo, Egypt. In 1985 John was appointed as North American Director of the media group he was working with in Cairo and settled in the Seattle area. John and his wife have resided in Lynnwood since 1986, raising three sons. From June 2005 to July 2009 John worked with Middle East Fellowship as V.P for Program Advancement and Development. In late 2009 John co-convened Middle East Peace Builders to continue his work of helping connect the American community with the peoples of the Middle East and broader global community. |
