| Introduction | I am a working artist, mostly painter, and art educator. I refuse to impose educational theory on my students- rather I treat them as what they are-full blown artists. My job is to help them with the practical aspects of their craft- to facilitate their expression. I hope to teach young students that they are the final authority on their own work. Looking at the work of children this way- as communication- opens up a dialog, based on respect, and teaches them to trust their own intuition- always the true guide in serious art making. I also help students,(of all ages), who may be grappling with insecurities about drawing, learn that any one can draw. So they can get over what they see as criteria for being a "good artist"-and I see as culturally imposed misconceptions-and get on with making their art their way.
