Introduction | The author, Virgilio C. Leynes, was born on July 6, 1942, in Batangas, Philippines, and finished his elementary and high school education in Iba, Zambales. He graduated from the University of the Philippines in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. He started as a junior auditor in a large accounting firm and rose to the position of Managing Partner in another firm. Then, he moved to the private industry and occupied various executive positions in several large corporations. He ventured into information technology in 1985 and learned by self-study software design and computer programming. He left the software business to his immediate subordinate when he retired to the United States in the year 2000. During his stay in the United States, he stumbled upon the digital library of the University of Michigan, where an abundance of books and materials containing information about the Philippines from 1896-1906 could be accessed through the Internet. That gave birth to his website, Leynes-vc.blogspot.com (formerly https://macapilifilipino.blogspot.com). |
