Introduction | I was born and raised in Carrollton and graduated from Carrollton High School. After graduation I attended Millikin University in Decatur where I received my bachelors in Biology. I then moved to St. Louis and worked for Monsanto as a research analyst in Ag Science, then off to Washington University School of Medicine to work for Dr. Jay Pepose (Pepose Vision Institute) as a research technician in the ophthalmology department. I went back to Monsanto for a short period and then finally to Mallinckrodt (now Covidian) where I spent a majority of my scientific career as a research chemist and regulatory affairs associate. I got married to Mr. Baumann in 2000 (he teaches at the High School) and we soon had our fantastic daughter Katharine and we live in Carrollton. I decided to make a career change and join the education community because of my volunteer work I had done while at Mallinckrodt. I received my Masters from SIUE in Curriculum and Instruction and here I am at NGMS for my fourth year and loving it. I really enjoy being able to bring my scientific experience to our classroom and I hope it helps our students connect to their world around them. |
