IntroductionRussell McKenzie makes his living editing video. This may have little to do with why he writes for this website, but during massive batch capturing sessions, he has little or nothing to do other than watching the video he just logged for the tenth time that day. He has been a hockey fan since his youth, and played left-wing in the style of Brendan Shanahan and Adam Graves for his high school and early college years. He, unfortunately, is also a Rangers loyalist.
InterestsHockey, metal, macs, studio and live sound, video stuff, and blah blah blah.
Favorite moviesStar Wars, Lord of the Rings, all that nerdy, dorky crap. I admit freely and proudly that I'm a card carrying dork.
Favorite musicAs I get older, I've realized that my tolerance for new music has dwindled. Most of the newer acts seem to be catering to the hipster set, and I really can't stand those people for the most part. I'm pretty eclectic, and, despite the previous sentence, am still pretty open minded. Just don't try to play The Ting Tings or Vampire Weekend, or some other "trendy" crap that is trying to pass itself off as the new big thing. Itunes stats: 13, 280 items, 39.4 Days, filling 61.63gb of hard drive space. That is not counting the video content.
Favorite booksThe Englsh Patient, Dune, Dark Tower Series, Elizabeth Hand (specifically Waking the Moon), Lord of the Rings. I read the first two books of the Wheel of Time series, but they have, like 14 books now, so I kind of surrendered. Plato's Republic, Machiavelli's Art of War, Thoreau's paper On Civil Disobedience, Thomas Friedman's From Beruit to Jerusalem, William Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury, and most Shakespeare, even if most of the sonnets are irritating drivel.

When you open your eyes underwater, do you ever worry that you'll drown?

No, not really. I do, however, worry that the chlorine will burn my eyes, or that someone peed in the pool.
