My blogs
| Introduction | I spend a lot of days treading water, bobbing just beneath life's surface now and then while struggling to stay mostly afloat, and this is where I focus my freelance attentions for the most part. But there are other times, days that turn into weeks and months, where I somehow carve out enough time and energy to explore what lies beneath, and that's what winds up on the pages of my creative work: images from my childhood that don't make any more sense now than they did when I was younger, landscapes that test and transform the narrative, characters who succumb to their shadow selves and wind up running away or kidnapping babies or forcing their wills upon weaker souls. I also periodically teach some of my favorite aspects of writing to others, whether in the schools or in therapeutic settings, and the lessons I learn from these experiences impact me as much as my teachings offer to my students. |
