| Introduction | There are over 1,000 types of bean in the world. They are one of the longest-cultivated plants and have been gathered from diverse countries such as Afghanistan and Thailand. Some even date to around the second millennium BCE. They contain copious amounts of fibre, and are high in protein, complex carbohydrates, folate and iron. I have not been around that long. I have definitely not been to half the places the beans have. And I could always do with some more protein. But I do intend to do as much as possible and be as useful as I can in the process; in many ways, like a bean. |
