Introduction	Cindi Ashbeck discusses issues and events related to animal welfare that occur in and around the Lake Michigan area in her blog, Free the Fur, and contributes regularly to Examiner.com as its Milwaukee Animal Welfare Examiner. In addition to being a prolific writer, Ashbeck is a No Kill advocate who is actively involved with organizations dedicated to preserving the lives of companion animals. As an advisor to Wisconsin Voters for Companion Animals, Ashbeck speaks out against breed specific legislation in civic meetings held throughout her home state. Ashbeck is the proud mother of three adult children and the exuberant grandmother of four. Her extended family also includes three dogs, a community cat and too many fish to count.
