| Introduction | I am a lawyer, a church deacon, a father of three children, and a husband of one wife. I hope to live my life in a way that gives credit to each of those titles. I live in east-central Illinois, very near the area in which Lincoln's family first settled in Illinois. I am interested in the history of our Republic, but much more so its future. I believe that the two are inseparable. Appropriate action for the sake of the future requires an understanding of present circumstances. If for no other sake than that of perspective, a true understanding of our present circumstances must be informed by a deep knowledge of our past. In addition to history, I enjoy creative writing, and an eclectic collection of pastimes. |

What reason do you have to believe the earth is flat?
I live in Illinois. What more reason do I need?
