| Introduction | I was born in New Zealand in the 1950's. I longed for clothes made from beautiful fabrics when I was young. However, they either didn't exist in our small town or they were too expensive. Anyway, everyone made stuff in those days so I was surrounded by women who were sewing and knitting. I learnt from them but never particularly liked what what they made! I worked after school from an early age and every cent went on patterns, fabrics, wool, fashion magazines and cigarettes! I so wanted to be cool ... and escape from that place. I have disliked the world of craft for a long time and am delighted to see it move from something daggy (or crappy) to something contemporary and desirable! The Textile Group is just pure joy for me. A collection of gorgeous talented woman with the best show and tells. They keep me motivated and interested and inspired. On a monthly basis, they also help me stray from my intention to remain cake free. |
