| Introduction | My name is Kate, and I was born and raised in Bartow, FL. While studying at the University of Florida, I spent the spring of 2005 and 2007 interning in Washington, DC. After the second internship, I decided to make Washington my permanent home. Since July of 2007, I have been living on my own and working full-time in DC; however, on Dec. 1 of 2008, I was laid off from my position with a boutique lobbying firm and have since faced the challenge of trying to find a new job in this tough economic climate, and as a republican, political climate, too. If I do not find a job by the end of spring, I will most likely have to move back to central Florida in hopes of finding better opportunity. Aside from this challenge, I will take advantage of my diminished social budget to stop eating out, stop drinking high-calorie cocktails, and focus on getting in better shape for the next stage of my career. |
