Please describe how you could take the peel off an apple all in one go:

My grandmother told me you would automatically flunk home ec. when she was in school if you couldn't get the peel off all in one go. I've graduated now so I don't have to worry about failing grades, but despite that, I feel pressure every time I peel an apple to weild my peeler (not just a knife now, Grandma Ginya!) around the worm holes in my #2 apples so that the peel comes off in one go.
